Sony PlayStation 3 Console Cake for Wayne Brady

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, June 3, 2008 - Last night actor-comedian Wayne Brady celebrated his 36th birthday at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.  Wayne Brady, who began performing in Las Vegas in the early 1990s, now has his own wildly successful show, Making It Up, at the Venetian.  Freed’s was asked to do two separate cakes for Mr. Brady on his birthday: a half sheet Red Velvet cake and a completely edible replica of the Sony PlayStation 3 console!

The first cake was simple and elegant.  A half sheet of red velvet cake, topped with buttercream icing and white fondant, and filled with Bavarian cream reportedly had Mr. Brady exclaim: “It’s actually good!”  The cake was topped with an edible image of Mr. Brady, fondant stars, and birthday wishes from his business associates.

The custom PlayStation 3 console cake was sculpted out of a quarter sheet of red velvet cake.  It was also filled with Bavarian Cream and iced with white buttercream.  The cake was draped in black fondant and sculpted to look like the system.  As requested, an edible copy of the game World of Warcraft was set beside the console.

Freed’s Bakery has served the Las Vegas area for the past 49 years, and has been featured on such shows as The Food Network’s “Roker on the Road,” “$40 a Day with Rachael Ray,” “Sugar Rush,” and “After Midnight.”  Freed’s has also been featured on Lifetime’s “Top This Party,” Hawaiian Airlines’ “The Best of Las Vegas,” and “Las Vegas Live.”  Freed’s has been featured in Bon Appétit, Martha Stewart Weddings, People’s Amazing Real Life Weddings, and Conde Nast Traveler.  Freed’s has been voted Best of Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Reader’s Choice for the last 26 years, and has been recognized by AOL City’s Best and The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2007.
