Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular Celebrates its 2nd Anniversary with Cakes from Freed's Bakery

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, June 25, 2008 - After 930 performances, a 'Best Show in Las Vegas' award by the Review Journal, and heaps of critical acclaim, Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular celebrated its second anniversary last night.  BASE Entertainment, one of Phantom's two production companies, ordered two cakes from Freed's Bakery to celebrate this milestone at The Venetian.

Phantom's order consisted of a grand cake for the curtain call and a three-tiered cake for the after-party.  The cake presented to the cast at curtain call was nearly 5 feet in length and 3 feet wide.  It was a white cake with Bavarian cream filling and buttercream icing.  An edible image was placed on top and complemented by elegant scroll work.  The cake presented at the after-party also had a simple and elegant design.  The Phantom's mask was sculpted out of white fondant and placed on the side; black scroll work adorned the middle tier.  Two different flavors were chosen for the tiered cake: white cake with strawberry puree and Bavarian cream filling and chocolate cake with raspberry puree and Bavarian cream filling.

Freed’s Bakery has served the Las Vegas area for the past 49 years, and has been featured on such shows as The Food Network’s “Roker on the Road,” “$40 a Day with Rachael Ray,” “Sugar Rush,” and “After Midnight.”  Freed’s has also been featured on Lifetime’s “Top This Party,” Hawaiian Airlines’ “The Best of Las Vegas,” and “Las Vegas Live.”  Freed’s has been featured in Bon Appétit, Martha Stewart Weddings, People’s Amazing Real Life Weddings, and Conde Nast Traveler.  Freed’s has been voted Best of Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal’s Reader’s Choice for the last 26 years, and has been recognized by AOL City’s Best and The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2007.
