Freed’s Makes Hugh Hefner's Second Cake in 2 Years
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, March 24, 2008 – Hugh Hefner and girlfriends Holly, Kendra, and Bridget celebrated the media mogul’s 82nd birthday this past weekend. Celebrations began at the Mirage (following a performance of Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE musical) but reached a climax at the Playboy Club and MOON Nightclub at the Palms Hotel. It was at the Playboy Club that Mr. Hefner received his second birthday cake from Freed’s, in what we hope will continue to be a tradition.
The cake was a full sheet of our strawberry shortcake (available by the slice in both of our Las Vegas locations), with light and fluffy whipped cream filling and icing. The cake had scroll work, and “Happy Birthday Hef” was written across the bottom. An edible image of Mr. Hefner with his girlfriends was centered on the cake, and fanned strawberries finished the design. Freed’s Bakery has served the Las Vegas area for the past 49 years, and has been featured on such shows as The Food Network’s “Roker on the Road,” “$40 a Day with Rachael Ray,” “Sugar Rush,” and “After Midnight.” Freed’s has also been featured on Lifetime’s “Top This Party,” Hawaiian Airlines’ “The Best of Las Vegas,” and “Las Vegas Live.” Freed’s has been featured in Bon Appétit, Martha Stewart Weddings, People’s Amazing Real Life Weddings, and Conde Nast Traveler.
