HENDERSON, NV, February 13, 2009….Freed’s Bakery, long known as Las Vegas’ most creative bakery, today recognized the hard work and dedication of the 1,300 teachers who educate the children in the 23 elementary schools in Henderson, NV by delivering to each one a special, hand-crafted cupcake as a gift for Valentine’s Day.
The first delivery trucks departed Freed’s Bakery at 9555 S. Eastern Ave. at 6:30 a.m. and visited all 23 Henderson elementary schools throughout the day.
“With all the current talk in the news about budget cuts for education and all the pressure that talk has created for our teachers, we wanted to do something positive and recognize them for their daily contributions to our community and the welfare of our children,” said Max Freed, the owner of Freed’s Bakery.
The white and chocolate cupcakes were handcrafted by Freed’s Head Baker Tim Kavanagh and iced with Freed’s European butter cream. A team of eight decorators finished the unique gifts with pink crystal sugar and Valentine’s Day decorations.
“Most of us work with children because we love kids and what we do with education. Although times are trying and complicated, it is nice to be recognized and appreciated. On behalf of all Henderson teachers, thank you for your kind gesture,” said Julie Campos, a music specialist at Galloway Elementary School.
